MORE THAN PRODUCTS - A LONG-TERM MOVEMENT LED BY ATHLETES, FOR ATHLETES.

Over the years, many brands that sponsor athletes have focused more on visibility than on actually helping them perform, sometimes even getting in the way of it.

We built Kaiju to do what most brands no longer do: focus on what athletes really need to train, push, recover, and start again. On the water, in the gym, and in everyday life. With products designed for real performance, not for marketing decks.

And we’re building it with athletes, not just for them. They test, challenge, and shape what we create. They’re part of the process, not just here to pose with our logo.

Kaiju is about supporting performance. Respecting it, fueling it, and standing alongside those who live it every day.

FAQ

Why have we been misinformed about salt?

For years, public health messaging has pushed “less salt is always better,” but large cohort studies don’t actually support that story. When researchers have tracked sodium intake and long-term health outcomes in tens of thousands of people, they tend to see the lowest risk for heart attack, stroke and death in a moderate intake range, roughly around 4–6 g of sodium per day, with risk rising again at both very low and very high intakes.¹² Meaning there is a sweet spot for sodium intake.

For athletes this sweet spot is even higher. Sweat sodium losses vary hugely from one person to another from around ~600 mg to up to 2000 mg per hour of hard training, so beyond the already higher baseline, electrolyte needs for those who move & train are way higher. Without adequately replacing electrolytes you get cramps, brain fog, waves fatigue, dry skin & mouth. Kaiju is formulated so anyone can meet their electrolyte needs without adding unhealthy ingredients to their diet.

How is Kaiju different from other electrolyte brands?

Kaiju is a zero-sugar electrolyte drink mix with everything you need and nothing you don’t. We use meaningful doses of the key electrolytes you actually lose in sweat, especially sodium, potassium and magnesium, instead of sprinkling tiny amounts across a long ingredient list. Most “sports drinks” are built around sugar, artificial colours, fillers and marketing claims. Kaiju is built around physiology: high-performance electrolytes, no junk, and a formula you can use every day without worrying about hidden & harmful ingredients.

Why is there no sugar in Kaiju?

We want you to be able to use it any time of day, before training, between meetings, when you’ve forgotten to drink and have a headache, without getting consistent blood sugar spike and all that entails.

Strictly speaking, you don’t need sugar to hydrate. Your gut can absorb water and sodium on their own, and pairing sodium with minerals like potassium and chloride is enough to drive fluid into the bloodstream and cells via normal transporters in the small intestine (including the sodium–glucose cotransporter SGLT1, which works with or without added sugar present in the drink itself).

Sugar can increase the rate of absorption (through GLUT-5) of fluids. However outside of endurance sessions and medical situations, the trade off of slightly more efficient hydration for constant sugar is not one we, or our community, is willing to make.

Can I use Kaiju outside of training?

Definitely. Kaiju was built for the whole performance day, not just the hour you’re in kit. Long work blocks, travel, heat, poor sleep, back-to-back meetings, fasting or low-carb phases, all of these increase fluid and electrolyte needs even if you’re not “training”. Because there’s no sugar, you can use Kaiju in the morning for mental clarity, between sessions for recovery, or later in the day to quickly get rid of that dehydration headache.

How should I take it for best results?

Mix one stick with 500–750 ml of cold water, depending on how strong you like the flavour. For light or moderate activity, one stick per hour is typically enough. In hotter conditions or during intense training, you may benefit from up to two sticks per hour to keep pace with sweat losses. You can drink Kaiju before, during, or after your session, the key is staying ahead of dehydration rather than chasing it once symptoms hit.

Is Kaiju safe for tested athletes?

Yes. Kaiju is manufactured in Germany in a certified facility, and every batch is produced to standards suitable for Olympic athletes under the Informed Sport Program.

Why doesn’t Kaiju have calcium, phosphorus or iodine?

Because Kaiju is a hydration and performance formula, not a multivitamin. During training and sweating you lose large amounts of sodium, plus meaningful potassium and magnesium, that’s what actually limits performance and fluid balance in the short term. Calcium and phosphorus are mainly long-term structural minerals for bones and teeth; you only lose small amounts of them in sweat, and most people easily cover their needs through food, and over supplement can lead to calcification of arteries and other issues. Iodine is a thyroid micronutrient with a very low daily requirement that’s already supplied by iodized salt, dairy and seafood. So we keep Kaiju laser-focused on what matters in the moment, electrolytes that move water, support nerve firing and muscle contraction.
